Marlene Klar Biographical Sketch

Marlene Louise nee Klenk Klar was born on September 8, 1956 to Marvin and Evelyn nee Reuther Klenk. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Pasadena, TX. She attended kindergarten through the eighth grades as Zion Lutheran School. Marlene was confirmed after completing her confirmation classes at Zion Lutheran Church.

She was active in the Walther League youth group. At Zion school, the principal, Ray Peterson required all the kids to sing in the choir. She graduated from Lutheran High School South. She attended tech school, and later became a medical office facilitator

She met and later married Michael Lee Klar on February 11, 1977 at Zion; her uncle, Pastor Oscar Horn officiated. The Klars made their home in Pasadena, TX, but in the 80s they moved to Dallas, where Marlene worked for Levolor Blind Company as a computer data processor. Returning to Houston in 1992, she worked for McGovern Allergy Clinic. On May 12, 1996 Marlene and Mike became members of Mount Olive Lutheran Church.

Marlene entered her eternal rest early on Saturday, October 17th, after an extended illness.

Marlene is predeceased by her father, Marvin Klenk, and is survived by her mother, Evelyn Klenk Torrico, and her husband, Edward. She leaves a brother, Wayne Klenk and wife Kris, and their children, Angela and James, and his wife Jamie. Angie's children are Nicholas, Cotie, Nathan, Jacob, and Rebeca. James’ children are Lucas, Piper, and James, Jr. Marlene leaves an uncle, Edwin Reuther "Uncle Sonny" and his wife Carol.

Marlene enjoyed the extensive collection of nutcrackers she owned. Some are very expensive, made by the Steinbach Nut Cracker Co., and others not so much. She had a great love for dogs, those that she owned and strays she happened to find along her way.

Marlene gave gifts to people through the years. These gifts were not store bought, but those she crafted herself. They were personalized. She took great care in finding just the items she would craft into a special keepsake.

Memorial gifts may be made in Marlene's memory to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 10310 Scarsdale Boulevard, Houston 77089.
