Who We Are

About Mount Olive Lutheran Church
Congregation 3
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Mount Olive is not a new congregation, but one which has 70 years of proud history. For many years we were located in the GulfGate community off I-45 S where we operated our elementary school. We helped to start Lutheran High School, now known as Lutheran South Academy. Since 1994 we have our campus on Scarsdale Boulevard, between Beamer and Blackhawk Roads in Southeast Houston. We have an attractive sanctuary, fellowship hall, classrooms, and administrative offices. We are not a large congregation, so it is not difficult for our members to get to know each other. We plan activities that interest our members, and assist to assimilate visitors into the life of the congregation. The campus of Lutheran South Academy is located about a mile from us.

Our congregation is traditional in worship; conservative in theology. Our sanctuary provides a pleasant and comfortable worship atmosphere. We desire to provide a rich worship experience, because we wait each week to see what our Lord Jesus will serve us from His Word! Our messages are timely, fitting for today's busy and confusing life. The spoken word comes from the written Word of God. We would consider it a special privilege to share with you the riches of Jesus Christ and His Word.

At Mount Olive, we do not have an "open communion" policy. While we do welcome visitors to participate in the Lord's Supper, who are members of other LCMS congregations. Such visitors have "guest privileges" at the altar. We do provide a blessing at the altar for all who are in attendance each week. We encourage others to commune as quickly as possible by completing a brief review the primary doctrines of the Holy Scriptures.

Come grow with us, as our Lord Jesus Christ draws us to Himself.

God's Richest Blessings in Christ!

WHO WE ARE

Pastor brackman 1 original

Our Pastor

Reverend Matthew Brackman

The Pastor-with-the-dragon-skinned-boots joined us in 2025. He faithfully brings the Word of God to bear upon us preaching Christ and him crucified.  He encourages and supports us with years of experience and a good sense of humor.  We look forward to growing closer together with him and his family as we grow in wisdom and knowledge of our Savior.
